Quotation from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
“You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of an underdone potato. There's more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are”
A Christmas Carol, Stave I (1843 first edition)
Scrooge tries to explain Marley's ghost as a hallucination caused by indigestion, a common contemporary theory of nightmares and apparitions.
