Quotation from The Prussian Officer and Other Stories by D. H. Lawrence
“The bodies of the two men lay together, side by side, in the mortuary, the one white and slender, but laid rigidly at rest, the other looking as if every moment it must rouse into life again, so young and unused, from a slumber.”
The Prussian Officer and Other Stories, The Prussian Officer, IV (Project Gutenberg #22480 (Duckworth, 1914))
The story's last sentence joins the officer and the orderly in death.
