About Bruno Leoni
Bruno Leoni (1913–1967) was an Italian legal philosopher and political scientist, born in Ancona. He became professor of the philosophy of law at the University of Pavia in 1945, served as dean of its faculty of political science from 1948 to 1960, and founded and edited the journal Il Politico. He also practised as a lawyer in Turin. He was active in the Mont Pelerin Society, serving as its secretary and, in 1967, as its president, and died in November of that year.

Freedom and the Law is a short book of legal and political philosophy by the Italian jurist Bruno Leoni, based on lectures he gave at Claremont Men's College in California in 1958 at a summer institute on freedom and competitive enterprise. It was published in English in 1961 by D. Van Nostrand in the William Volker Fund series in the humane studies.
