About Erwin Schrödinger

Erwin Schrödinger (1887-1961) was an Austrian physicist whose wave equation of 1926 became a foundation of quantum mechanics and earned him a share of the 1933 Nobel Prize in Physics with Paul Dirac. He left Germany in 1933, and after the annexation of Austria in 1938 he left Graz; in 1939 he settled in Dublin, where he directed the School of Theoretical Physics at the new Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies until 1956. He also wrote on philosophy, drawing on Spinoza, Schopenhauer and the Upanishads.
