Quotation from The Autobiography of Benvenuto Cellini by Benvenuto Cellini
“I BEGAN the Bible from the commencement, reading and reflecting on it so devoutly, and finding in it such deep treasures of delight, that, if I had been able, I should have done naught else but study it.”
The Autobiography of Benvenuto Cellini, Book I, Chapter CXVIII, trans. John Addington Symonds
In the dungeon of Castel Sant'Angelo, with almost no light, Cellini turns to the Bible.
