Quotation from Orthodoxy by G. K. Chesterton
“Not only is suicide a sin, it is the sin.”
Orthodoxy, Chapter V, The Flag of the World (Project Gutenberg #130)
Chesterton contrasts the suicide, who refuses loyalty to existence itself, with the martyr, who dies for something outside himself.
