Quotation from Lectures on Calvinism by Abraham Kuyper
“In itself there is nothing sinful in fiction;— the power of the imagination is a precious gift of God Himself.”
Lectures on Calvinism, Lecture II, Calvinism and Religion (Calvinism: Six Stone-Lectures (English edition, c. 1898-99), Internet Archive OCR text)
In explaining Calvinist objections to theatre-going, Kuyper insists the objection is not to imagination or drama as such.
