Quotation from The Prose Edda by Snorri Sturluson
“The greatest of all is this: that he made man, and gave him the spirit, which shall live and never perish, though the flesh-frame rot to mould, or burn to ashes”
The Prose Edda, Gylfaginning III, trans. Arthur Gilchrist Brodeur (1916)

Asked what the highest god has done, Thridi names the creation of man with an undying spirit, an answer that sounds close to Snorri's own Christian faith.
