Quotation from The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare
“It is an attribute to God himself; And earthly power doth then show likest God’s When mercy seasons justice.”
The Merchant of Venice, Act 4, Scene 1 (Project Gutenberg #1515, modern spelling)
The mercy speech rises from kings' sceptres to God, before Portia reminds Shylock that all pray for mercy.
